Management

1. The Board of GMSARN provides advice on the Network's general direction and strategic development and facilitates conflict resolution across the GMS. The Board consists of Presidents, Rectors, or Directors of all GMSARN member institutions, a representative from ADB, and the Secretary General of the GMSARN Secretariat.

The current board members are:

  • Prof. Dr. Surapon Nitikraipot , Rector, Thammasat University, Thailand
  • Dr. Phoeurng Sackona, General Director, Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Cambodia
  • Prof. Lav Chhiv Eav, Rector, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia
  • Prof. Zhou Rong, President, Kunming University of Science and Technology, China
  • Prof. HE Tianchun , President, Yunnan University, China
  • Dr. Somkot Mangnomek, President, National University of Laos, Lao PDR
  • Dr. Khin Maung Aye, Rector, Yangon Technological University, Myanmar
  • Prof. Sumon Sakolchai, President, Khon Kaen University, Thailand
  • Prof. Hoang Ba Chu, Rector, Hanoi University of Technology, Vietnam
  • Dr. Phan Thi Tuoi, Rector, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam
  • Mr. Arjun Thapan, Deputy Director General, Mekong Department, Asian Development Bank

The current associate board members are:

  • Professor Prakob Wirojanagud,President, Ubon Rajathanee University, Thailand
  • Assoc. Prof. Suwit Laohasiriwong,President,Nakhon Phanom University, Thailand.
  • Mr. Jeremy Bird, Chief Executive Officer for Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat.

2.The Board-appointed Council of Advisors of GMSARN provides advice on policy and planning and technical matters.

The current members of the Council are: 

  • Dr. Weerakorn Ongsakul, Secretary General, Associate Professor, Asian Institute of Technology
  • Dr. Taweep Chaisomphob, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Thammasat University
  • Mr. Noritada Morita, President, Asia Strategy Forum Co. Ltd.
  • Prof. Vanchai Vatanasapt, M.D.
    Director, Centre for Peace and Governance,
    King Prajadhipok's Institute Nonthaburi, Thailand
  • Mr. Surendra Shrestha, Regional Director and Representative for Asia and the Pacific United Nations Environment Programme
  • Prof. Okitsugu Fujiwara, Academic Advisor, AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat / Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network
  • Ms. Kaori Yasouka, Economic Affairs Officer, Division for Economic and Social Affairs, UN-ESCAP

3. The GMSARN Secretariat Office, currently located at AIT, Bangkok, Thailand, executes network activities. 

GMS institutions shall cooperate with other relevant institutions and governmental agencies in their own countries so that the objectives of GMSARN will be enhanced and successfully accomplished.
