The Pemigewasset Loop, known locally as the Pemi Loop, is a classic White Mountains backpacking trip. It was very rewarding once you got to the top - gorgeous views at both Flume and Liberty. Mount Liberty Climb Did this mountain as part of the Franconia Ridge loop; an 8.9 mile trail over 6 summits, including Lafayette. It’s a 5 star trail. On Mount Liberty you get 360 degree views and can see Little Haystack, Lincoln, Canon, and the Kinsmen. There is a tent site right off of the Liberty Spring trail, and there is a good water source (that is signed) just below it. This is a 9.8 mile loop hike with 3700 cumulative feet of elevation gain that takes about 4-6 hours to complete. From the Flume Visitor parking lot it is 0.7 miles to the Liberty Spring trail head along the paved and mostly flat bike path. make sure you have good boots/shoes as the ground is very sandy and washed out--not great footing. The Flume Slide Trail is particularly dangerous because the trail climbs up steep rock faces that are wet and have small streams running down them. Met plenty of people hiking in jeans.
